Chennai horror: 21-year-old man stabs pregnant wife to death with liquor bottle after argument; arrested – Times Now

Chennai: A shocking case took place in the wee hours of Thursday in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai when a 21-year-old man stabbed his pregnant wife to death after an argument. The shocking incident took place 100 meters away from the Vyasarpadi police station.

The accused has been identified as Ravi and was a resident of Ezhil Nagar in Kodungaiyur. The couple tied the knot a year ago and the woman was expecting her second child. The woman has been identified as Vijayalakshmi (19) and was a resident of Kannigapuram.

Couple often quarreled with each other

According to the police, Ravi and Vijayalakshmi often quarreled with each other as he did not provide enough financial help to her and her family.

Vijayalakshmi returned to her parent’s home out of anger, a few days back due to an argument in Pulianthope. The horror did not end here as Ravi went to his in-law’s house in a drunk condition on Wednesday and got engaged in an argument with his father-in-law Venkatesh and attacked him. He said that if his wife doesn’t return with him, they have to face the ugly consequences then.

Wife agreed to return

Seeing the turmoil her husband was creating at her parent’s home, Vijayalakshmi agreed to return to Vyasarpadi. However, things did not go down well with the two and they again got engaged in an argument.

Things took an ugly turn when Ravi began abusing her and later, took out his liquor bottle and stabbed her. He later fled away from the spot.

The woman died on the spot underneath the Vyasarpadi flyover. The murder took place just 100 meters from the police station and they were informed by some locals. The husband couldn’t manage to flee and was later nabbed by the police patrol team and was remanded in prison on Thursday.
