CHENNAI: City girl Yashini Sivasankar blanked Anchal Malhotra of Delhi University 3-0 as Madras University lifted the women’s team table tennis title in the Khelo India University Games in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. Yashini, who is currently ranked at 27th in the women’s category in India, didn’t face any challenge from Anchal and dominated her Delhi rival throughout to wrap it up in style. In the other two matches Seraha Jecob beat Priyanka Pareek 3-0 while Pavitra P got the better of Kritika Malik with an identical score.

“I have been playing well and was confident of winning the title. But I never thought it would be so easy in the final. Despite doing well in the recent past, I failed to win titles and this win came as a huge morale booster for me. Since, I have been trying to make direct entry into the senior level tournaments, I didn’t take part in that many junior-level tournaments. And I feel this title will help me make higher level events in the future. I am also looking forward to my debut in Pro-Tours this year,” Yashini, who is a final year BCom student at Madras University from TOI from Bhubaneswar.
