Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Five more test positive – Times of India

CHENNAI: Five more patients tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu to 23. Here are other developments:
*Tamil Nadu seeks Rs 4,000 crore central assistance to implement measures to tackle COVID-19.
*Officials from the Covid-19 control room are now tracing their contacts. People who visited the mosques they stayed in would be quarantined and the places would be disinfected, they said.
*In the last one week, two Thai nationals tested positive for the viral infection. They are undergoing treatment at IRT Perundurai.
*Health minister C Vijaya Baskar said four Indonesian nationals and their Chennai-based guide who had been on quarantine since March 22 tested positive for the infection. They are now being treated in Government Salem Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital.
*At present, 21 patients are undergoing treatment for the viral infection in the state. One patient, who was cured, was discharged from hospital last week. A 54-year-old man died in the early hours of Wednesday while undergoing treatment in Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai. “The patient who died in Madurai had met the two Thai nationals,” an official said.
