CHENNAI: The Covid-19 case tally in Tamil Nadu reached 7,4,8225 on Tuesday with the addition of 2,146 fresh cases. The number of people who have recovered, however, touched 7.18 lakh after 2,237 discharges in a day.
The state reported 25 deaths in the last 24 hours, including eight in Chennai. With this, the death toll reached 11,387.
At the end of the day, there were 18,709 people being treated for the viral infection.
More than a quarter of the fresh cases reported on Tuesday were from Chennai. The city had 577 cases followed by Coimbatore (196), Tiruvallur (107) and Chengalpet (104).
Together, the 11 districts in the north – Chennai included – reported 1,098 cases and 16 deaths.
The western districts together reported the highest number of fresh cases after north. The central districts reported 247 new cases and three deaths compared to 202 cases and one death in south.
