Chennai: In a shocking incident reported from the capital of poll-bound Tamil Nadu, two functionaries of a political party allegedly threatened to call Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s personal assistant (PA) after being asked to pay for the food they ordered at an eatery in the city’s Triplicane locality late Monday.  

How it happened 

According to the Chennai Police, the duo arrived at the eatery on Monday night in an inebriated state and ordered food. When the owner of the eatery asked them to pay for the food, they flared up in rage and created a ruckus. A video of the incident has got splattered across social media platforms.

The viral social media video purportedly shows one of the accused threatening to call the Union Home Minister’s PA on being asked to pay for the food. The accused said that a phone call from him to the minister’s PA could lead to communal violence, according to a report by The Times of India.

The eatery owner, later, informed the police, following which a case was registered and the accused were taken into custody. Police have confirmed that the accused were drunk at the time of the incident.

This comes almost a week after two drunk men, identified as Sagar Patel (19) and Shankar Tayde (29), allegedly set afire a restaurant in Maharashtra’s Nagpur after its owner expressed his inability to serve chicken

In yet another incident, a youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Etah allegedly shot a dhaba owner in the leg after an argument with him over chappatis. 

Etah police said the accused complained that he was served cold chappatis at the dhaba. An argument broke out between him and the eatery owner over the issue. During the course of the argument, the youth, suddenly, pulled out a gun and shot the dhaba owner in the leg and fled.
