CHENNAI: A 24-year-old cab driver was arrested on Tuesday for threatening a schoolgirl.
Police said Nagaraj of Pammal had been stalking the girl for a year. On Tuesday, he threatened to throw acid on her face.
Nagaraj had proposed marriage and had been bugging her since then. Annoyed, the girl told Nagaraj to stay away from her. With her school closed, the cab driver traced her address and followed her whenever she went to the nearby shops.
On Monday, the girl and her mother warned Nagaraj but he returned on Tuesday and threatened her.
The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the Tambaram all-women police who picked up Nagaraj and booked him under Pocso Act. He was produced in a local court that sent him to jail.
