Kocoatrait unveils Madras collection in sustainable packages – PrintWeek India

The brand has curated a limited edition set of nine flavoured bars inspired by the taste of Tamil Nadu. These flavours include Sukku Malli Kaapi, filter coffee, Kozhukkattai, Malligai, Sarkarai Pongal, Mor Miligai, Panai Sarkarai, Panakam and Paneer Roja.

Poonam Chordia of Kocoatrait, said, “The flavours are intended to remind consumers of Madras. We have used innovative techniques and only real flavour ingredients to form this collection. We do not use any artificial flavours and only work with Single Indian origin cacao beans. We use traditional South Indian stone grinders to refine our chocolate and use only non-refined sugar.”

According to the brand, the individual chocolate bars are wrapped using eco-friendly upcycled cocoa shell material and are printed using water-based inks at its partner institute V-excel education trust. Meanwhile, the inside of the wrapper comprises prints of poses from traditional art forms such as Bharatanatyam and pictures of instruments used in traditional South Indian music.

In addition, the brand has dedicated space on the front of the wrappers to the sustainability initiatives originating in Madras. L Nitin Chordia, founder of Kocoatrait, said, “Madras has given us everything and more. This was reason enough for us to pay it a tribute by dedicating this collection to the city and its practitioners of sustainability. We felt that there are so many initiatives which are contributing to Chennai becoming a city that practices what it preaches as far as sustainability is concerned.”

He added, “The front space on any wrapper is considered very valuable and thus we decided to dedicate that space to our fellow sustainability practitioners working out of madras.”

Thee nine chocolate bars are unitised in a palm leaf-based reusable box making it a zero-waste offering. Moreover, the box is shipped in single-use plastic-free packaging using a no-contact delivery mechanism.
