CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu added 3,581 new cases and 14 deaths to the state Covid registry on Sunday.
The case tally touched 8.99 lakh (8,99,807) while the death toll has reached 12,778.
After 1,813 discharges by noon, there were 21,958 active cases in the state.
The worst affected district, Chennai reported 1,344 new cases and four deaths, Chengalpet (209). Tiruvallur (163) and Kancheepuram (124), took total new cases in the region to 1,928. Almost all districts in the region reported deaths.
While Chengalpet reported one death more than Chennai, Kacheepuram reported two deaths and Tiruvallur reported one.
After Chennai, the highest number of cases were reported from Coimbatore (315) followed by Thanjavur (136), Trichy (150) and Tiruppur (105). Besides Chennai region, deaths were reported in Kanyakumari (1) and Tiruppur (1).
