Chennai: No ‘darshan’ in temples during ‘Aadi Amavasai’ and ‘Aadi Pooram’ – Times of India

CHENNAI: Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments minister P.K. Sekarbabu on Saturday said that ‘darshan’ in temples maintained by the HR and CE department will not be allowed for devotees this Sunday (August, 8) and Wednesday (August, 11).
While ‘Aadi Amavasai’ is observed on Sunday, ‘Aadi Pooram’ is celebrated on Wednesday.
In a statement, he said that it is part of measures to prevent mass gathering to check the spread of Covid-19 cases.
However, ‘poojas’ will continue in the temples as usual, he added.
