Man arrested for cheating 129 house owners in Chennai – Times of India

CHENNAI: The central crime branch (CCB) of the Chennai city police on Monday arrested a man who cheated 129 people of Rs 5 crore by promising to get a “huge rental income” for their houses.
The arrested man has been identified as Prakash, 29, of Thiruchengode who stays in Chennai.
Prakash entered into an agreement with 129 house owners. Inquiries revealed that Prakash took more than Rs 5 crore from tenants and failed to hand it over to the house owners.
The house owners later realised that they were conned and they lodged a complaint with the police commissioner.
The complaint was forwarded to the Entrustment Document Fraud wing. Inquiries revealed that he had cheated the house owners. The CCB arrested him. He was remanded in judicial custody.
