Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu: Chennai returns to number one slot for fresh cases – Times of India

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 1,964 new cases on Wednesday when Chennai grabbed the slot of district with the highest number of cases for the first time since May 25.
The city reported 243 new cases, 34 more than 209 cases it logged on Tuesday. Chennai’s neighbour Chengalpet reported 140 cases compared to 105 cases on Tuesday. Tiruvallur reported a rise from 79 to 98 new cases. Overall, the state added 71 more cases than its fresh cases tally on Tuesday.
The case tally moved to 25.81 lakh. and the death toll, including the 28 deaths reported on Wednesday, stood at 34,395. At the end of the day, there were 20,382 people under treatment for the viral infection.
Chennai, Salem, Trichy and Nagapattinam reported three deaths each, while Coimbatore, Thanjavur and Tiruppur reported two deaths each. While 10 districts reported one death each, all other districts in the state had zero deaths.
