Six new judges for Madras HC – Times of India

Chennai: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended elevation of six advocates of the Madras HC as judges of the court.
“The collegium in its meeting on February 16 has approved the proposal for elevation advocates Nidumolu Mala, Sunder Mohan, Kabali Kumaresh Babu, S Sounthar, Abdul Ghani Abdul Hameed and R John Sathyan,” the collegium said. Once the recommendation is approved by the Union law ministry, notifications and presidential warrants will be issued for their appointment as judges.
Currently, the court has 60 judges, including the Chief Justice, as against the sanctioned strength of 75.
