2 new judges assume office in Madras high court – Times of India

Chennai: Two newly appointed judges to the Madras high court were administered oath of office by Chief Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari on Monday.
The arrival of Justice N Mala and Justice Sounthar has taken the sitting strength of judges in the chartered high court to 61. The sanctioned strength is 75.
On March 24, the central government notified their appointment as additional judges of the court for a two-year term.
N Mala, who is also the government pleader for Puducherry, has over 32 years of standing while advocate S Sounthar has over 28 years of experience.
Mala enrolled as an advocate in August 1989 and specialised in writ and civil appellate side. She has appeared and conducted cases before the Supreme Court, Madras high court and various tribunals across the state.
Sounthar enrolled as an advocate in 1993 and specialised in writ, civil appellate, criminal, labour and service matters.
