Chennai, Tamil Nadu News Live Updates Today: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Wednesday inaugurated the Thanthai Periyar Samathuvapuram (equality village) in Kotai Vengapatti near Kannamangalampatti panchayat in the Sivaganga district of the state. Close to 100 houses have been built at this equality village at a cost of Rs 3 crore and 17 lakh. A chest-size bust of Dravidian ideologue Periyar built at a cost of Rs 2.25 lakh was also installed at the entrance of the village during the inauguration ceremony.
Tamil Nadu’s minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department (HR&CE), Sekar Babu, has warned the administration of Sri Natarajar Temple in Chidambaram of legal action against the priests if they prevented a government-ordered inspection from being carried out. This came after a government team visited the temple on Tuesday to inspect accounts and administrative details and was denied access by dikshithars, hereditary custodians and archakas (priests) of the temple. On Wednesday, officials from the Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowments Department carried out an inspection at Nataraja Temple.
