Chennai Police has come out with a new awareness campaign to inform people about Covid-19 pandemic through road paintings.

On Thursday, police in Chennai’s Villivakkam area made a painting on the road, explaining the importance of social distancing in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The painting showed two consequences. On one side, it is represented how Covid-19 spreads in crowded areas while following social distancing prevents people from the deadly virus.

People in the neighbourhood feel that this is the ideal way to spread awareness. A local said this is a better way of making people understand rather than using brute force.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in Tamil Nadu surged significantly on Thursday with 96 positive cases.

The state’s confirmed case tally now stands at 834, though it has not yet been updated by the Union health ministry. Eight people have died in the state after testing positive.
