New Delhi: The Chennai Corporation today rolled out HQIMS app which will not only give basic details of people in home quarantine, duration of quarantine but would also allow people to purchase daily essentials like groceries from this app, reported TNIE. 

Meanwhile, with 4,329 fresh cases, Tamil Nadu tally breached 1 lakh-mark today.

Tamil Nadu saw the highest ever single-day spike in COVID-19 cases on Thursday after 4,343 patients tested positive for the infection. The state has now 98,392 positive cases.

‘No community transmission in the state’

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar said that there is no community transmission in the state.

“I would like to answer the Opposition leader MK Stalin’s question. There is no community transmission in the state, if it happens it will be announced by the Indian Council of Medical Research,” he said.

This comes after Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief MK Stalin slammed the Tamil Nadu government accusing it of ‘misreporting of COVID-19 deaths can no longer be called a mere error’.

“Such attempts to suppress information and avoid transparency by elected officials can no longer be termed as a mere error,” said Stalin while speaking to reporters.

Chennai continues to remain the worst affected district

India’s health ministry on Friday morning said 379 new deaths, besides fresh 20,903 positive cases, were reported during the past 24 hours across the country, taking the number of deaths to 18,213 and total cases to 625,544.

According to ministry officials, so far 379,892 people have been discharged from hospitals after showing improvement.

Chennai continues to remain the worst affected district in the State with 62,598 cases.

The city and neighbouring districts like Chengelpet, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram have been under an intense 12-day lockdown from June 19. The state government has extended the lockdown till July 5, however, the general state-wide lockdown is on till July 31.
