Chennai: Gang members surround van driver on way to work, hack him to death over past ‘rivalry – Times Now

Chennai: In a shocking incident, a gang in Chennai’s Medavakkam hacked a van driver to death while he was on his way to work. The local residents at RJ Nagar alerted Pallikaranai police following which a team was sent to the spot with a sniffer dog.

The police later recovered the victim’s body sent it to Chrompet hospital for autopsy. The victim has been identified as Dilli Babu. 

According to a report in Times of India, the sniffer dog helped the cops spot the body. The victim was living as a tenant in the locality.

The van driver was surrounded and killed by the gang members when he was heading to work.  According to police, the victim was involved in an assault case in 2017.

“An enmity was brewing between the victim and the gang members. We suspect that the attack on Babu was the result of past enmity,” the report quoted the investigating officer as saying.  

The police have mounted a search for the accused and are analysing CCTV footage from the area.

In a similar incident on September 10, a gangster was hacked to death by eight men in Tamil Nadu. The incident took place near Basin Bridge area of Chennai. 

The victim was identified as Ramesh Babu. The accused chased the victim and later attacked him with sickles on killing him on the spot. The entire incident was caught on CCTV camera. 

After killing the history-sheeter, the eight accused surrendered at a local police station. 

In the video of the incident, the attackers could be seen running after the gangster and attacking him after he fell on the ground. The children who were playing nearby could be seen running away from the spot.
