Tamil Nadu reports 5,395 fresh Covid-19 cases – Times of India

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu recorded 5,395 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, pushing the total number of cases in the state to 6,25,391.
Chennai reported 1,367 fresh cases.
The active cases in Chennai stood at 12,560, which is nearly 27% of a total of 45,881 active cases across the state.
The toll reached 9,846 with the deaths of 62 patients. Chennai reported 19 deaths and Coimbatore recorded seven deaths.
While Chennai was the only district to record cases in four digits, 11 other districts recorded over 100 cases each. Coimbatore (468) had the highest number of new cases after Chennai, followed by Chengalpet (343), Salem (337), and Thanjavur (251).
Perambalur recorded the lowest number of cases on Monday, with just 10 new cases and a total of 103 active cases. Ramanathapuram, which reported 20 cases on Monday, has 163 people still under treatment.
In the last 24 hours, 80,868 people were tested for Covid-19 in 189 authorised RT-PCR testing labs. On Monday, 5,572 people were discharged, taking the total number of people cured to 5,69,664.
