TN urban local body polls: Kanimozhi gives this reason for lower voter turnout in Chennai – Times of India

CHENNAI: DMK Lok Sabha member Kanimozhi on Saturday said people were not taking the urban local body elections seriously and that was a reason behind the lower turnout in Chennai.
Addressing reporters in Chennai, she said the people choose their local body representatives who act as their voice and take forward their basic issues, and it was wrong to ignore voting.
“People must definitely come out and vote. Come out with the same energy that you have for other polls and vote,” she said.
Kanimozhi, who is the party’s women’s wing secretary, said the DMK alliance would have a thumping victory. “The schemes done by the chief minister will reflect in the results,” she said.
Kanimozhi, along with her mother, cast her vote in Teynampet.
