CHENNAI: The Tiruvallur district collectorate is taking tribal students on exposure visits to premier educational and knowledge institutions like IIT-Madras, Anna University, and Birla Planetarium.
District collector Dr Alby John said it is being done under the initiative ‘Siragugal’, which is aimed at reducing the dropout rate among tribal students and to guide in pursuing higher education.
“Two exposure visits are done every month to motivate and guide them. We have selected 100 tribal students from classes VIII, IX and XI,” he said.
“Special classes are going on every alternate week, and the team is trying for daily online classes,” he added.
