Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Chennai accounts for 279 of 508 new cases – Times of India

CHENNAI: The number of Covid-19 cases in Tamil Nadu reached 4,058 on Tuesday with 508 more patients testing positive. Chennai’s Covid-19 cases reached 2,008 with the addition of 279 new patients.
Two people — a 56-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman — died in Chennai’s Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital on Monday taking the death toll to 33.
At least 76 people were discharged from various hospitals in TN on Tuesday. At the end of the day, there were 2,537 patients still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
For the second consecutive day, the government said a large number of patients were from the Koyambedu cluster.
Cuddalore district recorded 68 cases. All the 68 are Koyambedu market returnees. The district, which has 229 positive cases as on Tuesday, has become the second most affected in the state after Chennai.
Chengalpet and Kallakuruchi reported 38 cases each.
Krishnagiri, the only district that had no cases, is no more a green zone as it recorded two cases.
The Nilgiris, which had sent all nine patients home, reported four cases on Tuesday.
