Chennai: Man, wife commit suicide after quarrel over coronavirus – Times of India

CHENNAI: A newly married couple committed suicide one after another at their house in West Mambalam on Friday.
According to police, Manikandan, 35, and Radhika, 29, were married for 10 months. Manikandan worked at a chemical firm in Perumbakkam and Radhika at a firm in Kilpauk.
Police said Manikandan tested positive for Covid-19 two months ago and recovered completely. However, since then there were quarrels between the couple. After such a quarrel 15 days ago, Radhika attempted suicide by consuming kerosene and was treated at a hospital.
On Friday, again they quarrelled and when Manikandan went out Radhika committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling in the house. She was taken to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Later, Manikandan came back and committed suicide with the noose used by Radhika. The Mambalam police sent his body to Omandurar Government Hospital for postmortem. Police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
