CHENNAI: The cyber crime cell at Adyar on Tuesday arrested a 21-year-old who sent abusive and threatening messages to actor Sanam Shetty’s social media page, police said.
Shetty lodged a complaint a week ago with the Thiruvanmiyur police on threats she got via social media. Police traced the messages to a youth identified as Roy John Paul, 21, of Nanmangalam in Trichy.
The college student told the police that he hated the actor who reportedly criticised men in general a reality TV show. He sent abusive messages to her Instagram page and after she blocked him, he sent threats to her via WhatsApp.
