Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin Tuesday congratulated Indian medalists at the Tokyo Paralympics. In a statement, Stalin said he is happy to see India continuing its streak at Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. “Congrats to our Tamil Nadu star Thiru Mariyappan Thangavelu who won his 2nd consecutive Paralympics medal in High Jump, Thiru Sharad Kumar and Thiru Singhraj Adhana for their Bronze in High Jump and Shooting respectively,” Stalin said.

Tamil Nadu BJP leader K Annamalai Tuesday has passed a remark where he questioned the government of allowing the TASMAC to run in the state but denied permission for Vinayaka Chathuthi event in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Annamalai said the government should leave it to the organisers to conduct the event following safety guidelines including social distancing. “The government can fix a cap on the number of people like 100 or 200 or 300. Vinayaka Chathurthi event is part of our lives. We are allowing TASMAC to run in our states, people are visiting the shops, police protection is provided. Why ban Vinayaka  Chathurthi procession alone? Government can provide restrictions but issuing a blanket ban is unacceptable. We still have time, we are thinking whether to present this demand to Chief Minister,” he added.
